    How to do it

    1. Drop your JPGs

.jpg and .jpeg files, up to 30 at once.

    2. Adjust the quality

Start at 80%: a good balance between size and sharpness for a photo.

    3. Download

Compare the size before and after, then download the WebP files or a ZIP archive.

JPG or WebP for your photos?

JPG dates back to 1992 and is still universal. WebP compresses better: for a photo, the file is usually 25 to 35% lighter at equivalent quality. On a page showing twenty photos, that is a difference your visitors feel, and one that search engines measure in loading speed.

    Getting the conversion right

Avoid converting an image several times: each lossy compression removes a little detail. Always start from the best version you have, and keep the original JPG aside.

If your photo has subtle gradients (sky, skin), raise the quality to 85 or 90% to avoid visible color banding.

    Frequently asked questions

Is WebP really lighter than JPG?

Usually yes, by 25 to 35% at comparable visual quality. The result depends on the photo: the exact measured percentage is shown for each file.

Is camera data (EXIF, GPS) kept?

No. It is removed during conversion, which also protects your privacy: the location where the photo was taken is no longer in the file.

Can I convert photos of several megabytes?

Yes. Processing happens on your device and the limit depends on its memory. Very large photos may take a few seconds.

    Does my website accept WebP?

Most current CMSs (WordPress, Shopify, Wix…) accept WebP. Check in your tool before replacing all your images.
