    How to do it

    1. Drop your images

JPG, PNG, GIF, AVIF, HEIC, BMP or TIFF. Up to 30 images at once.

    2. Set the quality

80% suits most photos. Go lower to save weight, higher for fine detail.

    3. Download

Each image separately, or all of them in a ZIP archive.

Why switch your images to WebP

WebP is an image format designed for the web. At comparable visual quality, a WebP file is usually 25 to 35% smaller than a JPG, and much smaller than a PNG. Less weight means pages that load faster, especially on mobile.

It also supports transparency (like PNG) and animation (like GIF). Every current browser displays it: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.

    Which quality to choose

    UseRecommended quality
Website or blog photos75 to 82%
Product images meant to be zoomed85 to 90%
    Screenshots, logos, text90% and above

Always compare the result with the original before publishing: that is what the before/after thumbnails are for.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the transparency of my PNGs preserved?

Yes. WebP supports transparency: the transparent background of a PNG or GIF stays transparent after conversion.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No, in the vast majority of cases: the conversion happens in your browser. Only some formats that browsers cannot read (such as HEIC) are sent to our server, with a clear warning, and then deleted automatically.

Does an animated GIF stay animated?

No. Only the first frame is converted. To keep an animation you need a video or animated GIF converter, which we do not offer.

    Is there a size limit?

In the browser, the limit depends on your device memory. For files processed by the server, the limit is 25 MB per image.
