The final dimensions are shown for each image.
Three ways to resize
- Longest side: ideal for a batch of photos in different formats. They all fit within the chosen limit, without distortion.
- Dimensions in pixels: set the width, the height, or both. With "Keep aspect ratio", the image fits inside the box.
- Percentage: 50% halves each side, so it divides the number of pixels by four.
Which dimensions for the web
| Use | Recommended longest side |
|---|---|
| Full-screen photo on a website | 1920 px |
| Image in an article | 1200 px |
| Product thumbnail | 600 to 800 px |
| Profile picture | 400 px |
Reducing dimensions is the most effective way to lighten an image: halving the sides divides the file size by three or four.
Frequently asked questions
Will my images be distorted?
No, as long as "Keep aspect ratio" is ticked. Untick it only if you deliberately want to stretch the image.
Can I enlarge an image?
Yes, but the result will be blurry: missing pixels are estimated. Tick "Don't enlarge" so that small images stay untouched.
What is the maximum output size?
Up to 12,000 pixels per side.
Does the image format change?
No, unless you choose another output format in the settings.
