    How to do it

    1. Drop your PNGs

Up to 30 files at once.

    2. Choose the quality

60% and above keeps up to 256 colors. Go lower for fewer colors and lighter files.

    3. Download

If a PNG cannot be made lighter, you get the original back.

    How PNG compression works

A PNG normally stores millions of possible colors for every pixel. Most images do not need that many: reducing them to at most 256 carefully chosen colors and saving them as an indexed PNG makes the file 60 to 80% lighter, often with no visible difference. This is the same technique as pngquant and TinyPNG.

Images that already have few colors, like logos and screenshots, lose nothing at all.

    When to choose WebP instead

For photos saved as PNG, switching the output format to WebP usually gives an even smaller file while keeping transparency. Keep PNG when the destination software does not accept WebP.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is transparency preserved?

    Yes, including semi-transparent edges.

    Will gradients look banded?

Light dithering is applied to smooth gradients. For images with very subtle gradients, keep the quality at 60% or above, or use WebP.

Why did my PNG not shrink?

It was probably already optimized. In that case the original file is returned unchanged.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Compression happens entirely in your browser.
