Transparency
Rounded corners outside the image are transparent in PNG and WebP, so the image blends on any background. JPG has no transparency: corners are filled with white.

How do I make a circular image?
Crop the photo to a square (Crop image, 1:1), then set corner rounding to 100% and border width to 0.
Is the border added outside the image?
Yes, the image keeps its content and the border is added around it, so the file gets slightly larger in pixels.
Why are the corners white in my JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparent corners.
